Lincoln School Bird Festival

Each year, Madrone Audubon hosts a full day of bird appreciation and nature activities at Lincoln Elementary School, located at 850 W. 9th Street in Santa Rosa. The school is located just one block from the established nesting site of Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Cattle Egrets and Black-Crowned Night Herons who arrive each March, nest and produce young, with a full nesting season readily available for observation through the end of July. The day-long festival at the school includes viewing the nesting birds through scopes and binoculars, nature journaling, bird bingo, and a visit from Santa Rosa Bird Rescue volunteers with their resident bird ambassadors to share about rescue and rehabilitation of birds. Volunteers to help with the festival activities are always welcomed!
